Ashok Goel has been associated with Essel as a Director since 1984 and is the Chairman & Managing Director. Ashok holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree and is an experienced businessman who also oversees the management of the Essel Group’s three existing leisure properties, Essel World, Water Kingdom and Fun Kingdom.
He has led the turnaround of an engineering tools company in the Essel Group, achieving distinct manufacturing efficiencies. Ashok serves on the Boards of Pan India Paryatan Pvt. Ltd., Solid Containers Ltd., ITZ Cash Card Limited and ITZ Cash Payment Solutions Limited.
Ashok is the President and Founder Member of the Indian Association of Amusement Parks & Industries and the Vice-President of the Organization of Plastic Processors of India. He is currently a member of the Stakeholders’ Relationship Committee of Essel’s Board of Directors.
M. R. Ramasamy is Chief Operating Officer since July 1, 2015. Before July 2015, Ramasamy was managing the international businesses of the company in the capacity of President – International Business. In earlier portfolios he has led several verticals within the firm, holding positions of Manufacturing & Technology (Global), Chief Technology Officer, Director – Corporate Affairs, and Sr. Vice President – Operations and Supply Chain. Ramasamy has been with Essel for over 20 years. He carries an Engineering degree in Chemicals & Plastics and an executive MBA from Lansbridge University, Canada. He is also a regular faculty for manufacturing excellence and Six Sigma implementation methodologies at the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai. The Essel team refers to him as Ram.
Mrinal Kanti Banerjee is a qualified electrical engineer with over 29 years of experience. He has been with Essel for the last 23 years. He started his career as Production Manager at Guardian Plasticote Ltd., after which he joined Essel as Assistant Manager, Customer Service in 1985. At Essel, his experience spans various stages of tube manufacturing, including blown film, extrusion lamination, slitting, printing, production planning and control.
As Director of Creativity & Innovation, Mrinal’s job entails conceptualizing, designing and developing new products, processes and applications. Besides interacting with customers and vendors for new product development he also engages himself in facilitating fundamental research projects on sustainability and biodegradability.
Dileep Joshi has been with Essel as Director, Human Capital (Global) since October 2009. He is a post-graduate in HRM from Tata Institute of Social Sciences. Having held senior management positions in HR with Essar Group, Piramal Group and ICI India Ltd., he brings in more than 20 years of prior experience. Dileep’s principal accountability is co-ordination and implementation of the Human Capital Vision and strategy to support current and long-term organizational goals. He is responsible for the development, execution and administration of Global Human Capital programs, policies and practices.
Mauro Catopodis is the Regional Vice President for the Americas Region. He is responsible for leading Essel Propack’s strategic growth alongside all aspects of management and oversight of business operations in the entire region, which includes plants in the US, Mexico and Colombia. His 20+ year career has spanned key roles in Strategic Management, Sales, Marketing, as well as Mergers & Acquisitions. He has in-depth expertise across industries including Packaging, Food and Beverage.
In his prior role, Mauro served as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) at Rembrandt Foods – one of the largest egg ingredient companies in North America. Previously, he served as Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Amcor Rigid Plastics, a global leader in packaging. Additionally he spent 16 years at Cargill – the largest privately held corporation in the USA. Mauro holds an MBA from the prestigious University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro.
Alan Conner joined Essel in 2011. He is qualified with an HND in Electrical & Electronic Engineering and has also completed his post-graduation in management from the University of Warwick. Over a span of 30 years Alan has held senior positions with Schlumberger and Tomkins PLC before moving to the packaging industry to take on a senior leadership role with BPI. Alan has also held senior leadership roles with DS Smith Plastics where he was Managing Director of Europe-Worldwide Dispensers.
Deepak Ganjoo is responsible for the overall business strategy, growth and customer relationship management for Africa, Middle East & South Asia region. Deepak joined Essel in 2005 as Unit Head for Murbad, India and has worked across various roles including Manufacturing, Sales, supported Colombia and Russia units in streamlining the Manufacturing System and Practices, and played an important role in the integration of RAS Propack Operations and SAP Implementation. Deepak was appointed as Unit Head for Vasind and since 2010 he used to head the Sales and Marketing functions for pan-India. Prior to Essel, Deepak worked with TVS Motors and Hi-tech Gear Limited for seven years.
Prakash Dharmani has been with Essel as Global CIO since 2012. He is a chemical engineer with a diploma in finance management as well as an executive MBA from a leading management school. He has 20 years of experience working with Essar Group and Reliance Industries Ltd. During his tenure at Essar Group, Prakash was CIO for various verticals such as Power, Shared Services, Engineering and Procurement. Before this, he spent 14 years working with Reliance Industries in various businesses such as Refinery, Logistics and Petrochemicals, handling cross-functional roles like IT, Project Management, Technical Services and Manufacturing Operations.
Vinay Mokashi has been with Essel for the last ten years and currently undertakes the responsibilities of Financial Controller – Global. Earlier, he functioned as Regional Financial Controller in China and India. Vinay is a commerce graduate and a qualified cost accountant (AICWA) and company secretary (ACS). Before joining Essel, he tackled various accounting, finance and commercial functions in petrochemical and toothpaste manufacturing industries for more than 15 years.
Kelvin joined Essel on April 11, 2016. He looks after overall business strategy planning for various product lines in the East Asia Pacific region (EAP), with operations in China, Philippines and Indonesia and is responsible for building a winning, market-driven organization and profitable growth in EAP. He has completed his Bachelor of Engineering from Shanghai Jiaotong University and his MBA from University of Iowa, USA. He has held Technical Services, Sales and Marketing and General Management positions in the past with conglomerates like Guangdong Daya Bay Power Plant and Avery Dennison. Prior to joining us, Kelvin was working with Loparex Hong Kong Ltd., as Vice President Sales & Marketing, Asia Pacific.
