Mr. Brar is the promoter of GVK Biosciences Private Limited, Excelra Knowledge Solutions Pvt. Ltd and Davix Management Services Private Limited. Mr. Brar started his career with Associated Cement Companies (ACC) and later joined Ranbaxy Laboratories Limited, where he rose to the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director.
Apart from Essel Propack, Mr. Brar currently serves as Chairman on the Board of Mphasis Limited and Director on the Board of Maruti Suzuki India Limited, Wockhardt Limited, and Mountain Trail Foods (India) Private Limited. He is a member of the Advisory Board of the USA-India Chamber of Commerce (USAIC). Mr. Brar was also the Director of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) during 2000-2007.
Mr. Brar has a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Patiala; and a master’s degree in management from Faculty of Management Studies from the University of Delhi (gold medalist – 1974).
Ms. Sharmila Karve was an audit partner with Price Waterhouse and has spent her career performing audits of large multinational and Indian business houses. She has served as the audit partner for some of the largest FMCG, Pharma, Telecom and Insurance Companies in India. Sharmila was the Head of Audit for the Price Waterhouse network of firms in India between 2009 to 2012 and during this time she was actively involved in negotiating the settlement with the US Regulators. She took over as the Head of Risk & Quality for the India network in 2012 and was appointed as the Head for Diversity and Inclusion for the PwC Network. In her role as the Head of Diversity & Inclusion, Sharmila was a speaker at various forums.
She holds a FCA degree from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.
Mr. Sudhanshu Vats joined the Essel Propack Board in April 2020. He is the Managing Director and CEO of the company. He has more than 28 years of industry experience across the FMCG and media sectors. Prior to joining Essel Propack, Mr. Vats spent eight years as the Managing Director and Group CEO of Viacom18, one of India’s leading media organizations.
Before joining Viacom18, Mr. Vats spent more than 20 years at Unilever in various sales and marketing as well as general management roles. He left Unilever as the head of Unilever’s laundry business in South Asia and head of the Radiant brand globally.
Mr. Vats holds an M.B.A. from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad. He received his Bachelor of Technology degree in Mechanical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra.
Mr. Uwe Röhrhoff was the President and Chief Executive Officer and Director at Perrigo Company, a leading manufacturer of over-the-counter health and wellness solution.
Mr Röhrhoff started his career in the Finance Division of Scheidt & Bachmann GmbH and later joined Gerresheimer AG, a leading global packaging player for the pharma and healthcare industry in 1991. At Gerresheimer, he rose to the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Chairman of the Management Board in 2010. He left Gerresheimer to join Perrigo in 2017.
Apart from Essel Propack, he serves as Director of the board of Ensinger GmbH. He previously served as Director of Catalent Inc., where he chaired the Audit Committee. He holds a business studies diploma from the University of Cologne.
Amit Dixit is a Senior Managing Director and Head of Blackstone Private Equity in India, based in Mumbai. Since joining Blackstone in 2007, Mr. Dixit has been involved with various investments and investment opportunities in India and South Asia.
Apart from Essel Propack, he currently serves as a Director on the Boards of Mphasis, TaskUs, Comstar Automotive Tech, Sona BLW Precision Forgings, IBS Software, Jagran Prakashan, Mid-Day Infomedia and HPPPL. Mr. Dixit was previously Director on the Board of Intelenet Global Services, Trans Maldivian Airways, Igarashi Motors India, S.H. Kelkar and Emcure Pharmaceuticals.
Prior to joining Blackstone, Mr. Dixit was a Principal at Warburg Pincus. He received an MBA from Harvard Business School, an MS in Engineering from Stanford University, and a B.Tech. from Indian Institute of Technology Mumbai where he was awarded the Director’s Silver Medal for graduating at the top of his program.
Amit Jain joined the Board of Essel Propack in August 2019. He is a Managing Director in the Blackstone Private Equity Group based in Mumbai.
Before joining Blackstone in 2010, Mr. Jain worked at McKinsey & Company focusing on consumer and financial services sector in India. Prior to that, Mr. Jain worked at Unilever India where he worked primarily in the manufacturing and supply chain area, setting up and operating manufacturing plants in HUL. Apart from Essel Propack, he currently serves as a Director on the Board of Comstar Automotive Tech, Sona BLW Precision Forgings and FINO Payments Bank.
Mr. Jain received a B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur where he received the “Institute Silver Medal” and a P.G.P. (equivalent to an M.B.A.) from the Indian School of Business (“ISB”), Hyderabad where he was awarded the “ISB Scholar of Excellence.“
Alex Yang is a Senior Managing Director in Blackstone’s Private Equity Group and is based in Hong Kong. Prior to joining Blackstone, Mr. Yang was a Principal at TPG Capital Asia in Beijing, a Vice President at Olympus Capital Asia in Hong Kong, an Associate in Morgan Stanley’s Industrial Investment Banking Group in New York . Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, he was an attorney in Kirkland & Ellis’ Private Equity Group in Chicago.
Apart from Essel Propack, Mr. Yang currently serves as Director on the Board of Shya Hsin Packaging and Global Sources, and previously served on the board of HCP Packaging.
Mr. Yang received an M.B.A. from University of Chicago Booth School of Business, a J.D. from University of Minnesota Law School, and a L.L.B. from Peking University Law School in China.
Animesh Agrawal is a Senior Associate in the Blackstone Private Equity Group based in Mumbai. Mr. Agrawal worked at Blackstone from 2014 to 2016 and, following the completion of an M.B.A., rejoined Blackstone in 2018.
Since joining Blackstone in 2014, he has been involved in the execution of Blackstone’s investments in Essel Propack, Intelenet, IBS Software and Mphasis. Before joining Blackstone in 2014, Mr. Agrawal worked as a management consultant with McKinsey & Company.
Mr. Agrawal received a Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. He holds an M.B.A. from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, where he was named a Siebel Scholar and an Arjay Miller Scholar.
Aniket Damle is an Associate in the Blackstone Private Equity Group based in Mumbai. Mr. Damle joined Blackstone in 2017. Since joining Blackstone, he has been involved in the execution of Blackstone’s investments in Essel Propack and Sona BLW. Prior to joining Blackstone in 2017, he worked as a management consultant with McKinsey & Company.
Mr. Damle received a Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. He was named an OPJEMS scholar in 2015.
