Mr. Sudhanshu Vats joined the Essel Propack Board in April 2020. He is the Managing Director and CEO of the company. He has more than 28 years of industry experience across the FMCG and media sectors. Prior to joining Essel Propack, Mr. Vats spent eight years as the Managing Director and Group CEO of Viacom18, one of India’s leading media organizations.
Before joining Viacom18, Mr. Vats spent more than 20 years at Unilever in various sales and marketing as well as general management roles. He left Unilever as the head of Unilever’s laundry business in South Asia and head of the Radiant brand globally.
Mr. Vats holds an M.B.A. from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad. He received his Bachelor of Technology degree in Mechanical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra.
Mr. M. R. Ramasamy has been the Chief Operating Officer since July 1, 2015. Prior to this, he was managing all of Essel’s global divisions in the capacity of President – International Business. In earlier portfolios he has led several verticals within the firm, holding positions of Manufacturing & Technology (Global), Chief Technology Officer, Director – Corporate Affairs, and Sr. Vice President – Operations and Supply Chain. Mr. Ramasamy has been with Essel for over 30+ years. He carries an Engineering degree in Chemicals & Plastics and an executive MBA from Lansbridge University, Canada. He is also a regular faculty for manufacturing excellence and Six Sigma implementation methodologies at the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai. The Essel team refers to him as Ram.
Mr. Parag Shah has joined the Company in November 2019 and has more than 27 years of diverse experience in the manufacturing environment across FMCG, medical device and pharmaceutical sectors. Prior to joining Essel Propack, Mr. Shah has worked as Group CFO at ACG group, Finance Director at Medtronic India, as the CFO at Nike India & in various capacities in HUL. His experience covers treasury, taxation, accounting, internal audit and finance. He is a qualified Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI).
Mr. Mauro Catopodis is the Regional Vice President for the Americas Region. He is responsible for leading Essel Propack’s strategic growth alongside all aspects of management and oversight of business operations in the entire region, which includes plants in the US, Mexico and Colombia. His 20+ year career has spanned key roles in Strategic Management, Sales, Marketing, as well as Mergers & Acquisitions. He has in-depth expertise across industries including Packaging, Food and Beverage.
In his prior role, Mr. Catopodis served as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) at Rembrandt Foods – one of the largest egg ingredient companies in North America. Previously, he served as Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Amcor Rigid Plastics, a global leader in packaging. Additionally he spent 16 years at Cargill – the largest privately held corporation in the USA. Mauro holds an MBA from the prestigious University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro.
Mr. Alan Conner joined Essel in 2011. He is qualified with an HND in Electrical & Electronic Engineering and has also completed his post-graduation in management from the University of Warwick. Over a span of 30 years Mr. Conner has held senior positions with Schlumberger and Tomkins PLC before moving to the packaging industry to take on a senior leadership role with BPI. Mr. Conner has also held senior leadership roles with DS Smith Plastics where he was Managing Director of Europe-Worldwide Dispensers.
Mr. Deepak Ganjoo is responsible for the overall business strategy, growth and customer relationship management for Africa, Middle East & South Asia region. Mr. Ganjoo joined Essel in 2005 as Unit Head for Murbad, India and has worked across various roles including Manufacturing, Sales, supported Colombia and Russia units in streamlining the Manufacturing System and Practices and played an important role in the integration of RAS Propack Operations and SAP Implementation. Mr. Ganjoo was appointed as Unit Head for Vasind and since 2010 he used to head the Sales and Marketing functions for pan-India. Prior to Essel, Mr. Ganjoo worked with TVS Motors and Hi-tech Gear Limited for seven years.
Mr. Kelvin Wang joined Essel on April 11, 2016. He looks after overall business strategy planning for various product lines in the East Asia Pacific region (EAP), with operations in China, Philippines and Indonesia and is responsible for building a winning, market-driven organization and profitable growth in EAP. He has completed his Bachelor of Engineering from Shanghai Jiaotong University and his MBA from the University of Iowa, USA. He has held Technical Services, Sales and Marketing and General Management positions in the past with conglomerates like Guangdong Daya Bay Power Plant and Avery Dennison. Prior to joining us, Mr.Wang was working with Loparex Hong Kong Ltd., as Vice President Sales & Marketing, Asia Pacific.
Mr. Dileep Joshi has been with Essel as Director, Human Capital (Global) since October 2009. He is a post-graduate in HRM from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences. Having held senior management positions in HR with Essar Group, Piramal Group and ICI India Ltd., he brings in more than 20 years of prior experience. Mr. Joshi’s principal accountability is co-ordination and implementation of the Human Capital Vision and strategy to support current and long-term organizational goals. He is responsible for the development, execution and administration of Global Human Capital programs, policies and practices.
Mr. Prakash Dharmani has been with Essel as Global CIO since 2012. He is a chemical engineer with a diploma in finance management as well as an executive MBA from a leading management school. He has 20 years of experience working with Essar Group and Reliance Industries Ltd. During his tenure at Essar Group, Mr.Dharmani was CIO for various verticals such as Power, Shared Services, Engineering and Procurement. Before this, he spent 14 years working with Reliance Industries in various businesses such as Refinery, Logistics and Petrochemicals, handling cross-functional roles like IT, Project Management, Technical Services and Manufacturing Operations.
Mr. Hariharan Nair holds a master’s degree in polymer engineering from IIT – Delhi. He started his career with Reliance Industries Limited in 1998 and has also worked for G E Plastics and E. I. DuPont India Pvt. Ltd before joining Essel in 2017. He has over 20 years of experience in the Indian polymer Industry.
In his career he has been exposed to leadership roles in technology, business development and technical sales. As Vice President – Creativity & Innovation, Mr. Nair’s job entails conceptualizing, designing and developing new products, processes and applications. Besides interacting with customers and vendors for new product development, he also engages himself in facilitating fundamental research projects on sustainability.
Mr. Suresh Savaliya, Head – Legal and Company Secretary, joined Essel Propack in 2015. Mr. Savaliya is a Company Secretary since 2000 and a member of ICSI. He is a Law Graduate (LL.B) of the 1997 batch and has done a Master in Law (LL.M) from Gujrat University.
He is a Diploma holder in Cyber Laws from ASL & Government Law College, Mumbai University. Mr. Savaliya has over 20 years of versatile experience in corporate and commercial law including SEBI, Multi-Companies Corporate Secretarial, Statutory Compliance, Legal & Regulatory Affairs Of Domestic And Foreign Companies, Fund Raising, Strategic Decisions, IPO, QIP, ESOS, Right Issue, Bonus Issue, Private Equity, Merger, Cross Border Acquisition, Takeover, Stake Sale And Change in Control, Property Laws, FEMA, RBI, Watch over Foreign Companies and Foreign Laws, Compliance Audit and Management, Due Diligence, Domestic and International Trademark Registration and Litigation. He has worked with organizations of repute including Reliance Industries, Kalpataru Group, Nitco and Jindal Group.
